INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE
Elian’s British school of la Nucía is an authorised IB Diploma school. And therefore an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy: a commitment to a high quality and challenging international education — a style of education which we believe is essential for our students.
Only schools authorised by the IB Organisation can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme (DP), or the Career-related Programme (CP).
Prepared for a global future
The International Baccalaureate is a two-year academic course for students aged from 16 to 18.
Throughout the programme, students at Elian’s British School La Nucía study six subjects of their choice to prepare them for future university studies. Our team of qualified and officially trained counsellors and teachers offer individual support according to the needs and personal characteristics of each student.
From Year 11 onwards, our students take part in introductory sessions to the Diploma Programme, including workshops held in school and individual meetings. They also take various tests which guide them through a process of self-evaluation and enable them to make more informed choices.
The International Baccalaureate at Elian’s is a two-year course with an external examination, common to all IB students worldwide and subject to a globally standardised assessment. It aims to fully prepare students for the rigours of higher education.
The IB Diploma Programme curriculum includes common, or core components:
These core components develop academic and personal skills, which complement the DP’s six subject groups.
At Elian’s, we offer three study pathways within the International Baccalaureate, which can be personalised by choosing subjects from the six groups.
“A 360º education for a future filled with exceptional academic, personal and professional opportunities”
Students who attend an IB school:
Enjoy a wide range of subjects with a cross-disciplinary focus and a focus on promoting essential skills for their future careers, such as research and communication.
They take full responsibility for their learning, which drives them to excel and continually improve. This provides the key to ensuring their future professional and personal success.
They develop critical thinking skills, learning to question assumptions and trust their own judgement.
They gain confidence in themselves and their abilities, being able to approach new ideas, concepts and even risks with confidence.
They tend to outperform students from other curricula by their all-round training in the development of social, emotional and academic skills.
They are more likely to gain access to the world’s most prestigious universities.
They are immersed in both national and international contexts throughout their schooling, making them future adults who are aware and intuitive about the world around them.
They acquire an open and international mindset, which will enable them to function fluently and confidently in an increasingly globalised and constantly changing world.
They become multilingual and multicultural professionals, able to understand and adapt to different environments, cultures and customs.
